I don’t mix prints and patterns much but I am starting to like it the more I see it done.  This is my Gingham & Check look that I wore to Durbin Farms Market on Sunday. If you live in a rural area like I do then you know the importance of getting out of town from time to time.  Even my dog Della gets stir crazy and starts running around the couch as fast as she can, then I know it’s time to get out and go somewhere.  This time it was my sister that said she really needed to get out of the house so we decided to take a little road trip to Clanton, AL (Alabama’s Largest Produce of Peaches) to get some lunch, peaches, peach ice cream, visit with our cousin, and do a little farmers market shopping.

Let me just tell ya Durbin Farms Market knows what they’re doing!  From soup and sandwiches to desserts, pastries, and ice creams.  Then there’s the amazing clothing boutique (which I forgot to take pictures of) and their outdoor market full of fresh produce and so much more.  They have so much to choose from we got everything we needed all in the one stop!

So, whether you’re looking to get out of the house for a couple hours or headed to the beach you should stop by and check them out!

Pale Blue Maxi Dress

I couldn’t resist posting all of these due to all of the random expressions on my face! 🙂  That was one good ice cream cone though!!  I purchased this pale blue maxi dress from It’s Fashion for about $7 I believe.  It was an end of summer clearance item that I just couldn’t pass up!  The fabric is so soft and I love the color.  I added a cardigan for work since the dress has thin straps.

I really like maxi dresses for those times when you want to wear a dress but you don’t have time to shave your legs or maybe you do shave your legs but it just doesn’t feel like a short dress kind of day.  I also like them for days when you might be a little bloated and your legs don’t look their best.  Some days I use them like a blanket and cozy up in my chair at work.  I also like the little slit on the side because it gives you extra room to move around in.

Overall I like maxi dresses because they are comfortable, they elongate even the most petite of frames, and they give off a relaxed yet whimsical vibe.  They are great to wear at the beach and also make great swimsuit cover-ups! They look nice at floor length, ankle length, or even just above the ankle.

Maxi dresses are easily transitioned from work to play.  Just throw on your favorite cardigan for the workday then simply remove it when it’s time to meet up with your friends for dinner.  They look great with just about any style shoe from flip flops to booties and sandals to wedges.  If you choose a flat shoe and your dress is a bit long then you have two options.  You can tie a knot at the bottom of your dress or just hold it up with your fingers (not sure why but I’ve always liked this option).

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Illuminating Summer Make-Up Routine

For some reason my face neck and chest have been breaking out a lot lately and it’s SOOOOOO aggravating!!!!!  I wanted to let y’all in on a little secret that has helped it tremendously!

STEP 1:  First things first, I always apply T.N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel (I like it the best because it’s the purest form that I could find compared to the other options at Wal-Mart). Let me just say this stuff it wonderful!  It really helps with redness, irritation, dryness, and and gives your skin an instant firmness and glow!  You should really start using it if you don’t already!  I use it morning and night (witch hazel doesn’t dry your skin out like alcohol does).

STEP 2: I apply this Neutrogena Shine Control Primer and let it dry a few seconds before applying my foundation.  I have a super oily T-Zone and I’m constantly blotting throughout the day!  I can’t stand it because it looks and feels gross and when I blot it takes my makeup off!  I’ve tried using oil blotting sheets and really like them but I’m just not willing to spend the money on them!  This product used along with the rest of these products has worked really well for me personally.

STEP 3:  This Physician’s Formula Super BB Cream is SUPER thick, does NOT go on easy, and is darker than I expected!  I was SUPER disappointed after I purchased it but I was determined to get use out of it since I spent my hard earned money on it!  So, as usual I started playing around with it.  I put a very small amount on my fingertips and a SUPER small dot of Argan Oil and mixed them together and applied it to my face, then repeat for neck, and chest.  Use as much as you need until you are satisfied with the coverage.  Mixing the two products together helps it go on smoother and easier and the color also becomes lighter. 🙂

I really like the Argan Oil because it helps keep my skin moisturized and gives it a nice glow!

STEP 4:  I use this Loreal LUMI Illuminator as my contour/bronzer.  I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!  I don’t like to take a lot of time to do my make-up in the morning so I wanted something super easy for this step.  This is a gel and goes on very light which I love and it’s really easy to blend.  I apply this to my cheeks, around my hair line/forehead, top of my nose, along my jawline, and on my eyelids.  Did I mention that I LOVE THIS STUFF!?!?  It takes my face from pale to bronze in a instant! 🙂 🙂 🙂

STEP 5:  I always add a little blush to my cheeks after I put LUMI on them.  This color by e.l.f is so pretty and is a really great everyday color that goes with just about anything I wear!

STEP 6:  This Loreal Luminizing Mineral Finish is sorta like magic!  It’s the MAIN product that I need for hiding acne and blemishes.  This product blends all the other products together giving you a soft finished look.  A little goes a long way and I put it all over my face, neck, and chest. Don’t use too much or you’ll turn out looking like Michael Jackson! 😉

I like to use this angled brush from Wet ‘n’ Wild because it flows easily into all of the different areas of your face.  It is also super soft and inexpensive which is always a plus!!!

That’s all folks!  It might seem like a lot but it really only takes about 15-20 mins total.  Hope you enjoyed this and please let me know if you have any questions, I’d be happy to help! 🙂

As always, thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Retro Fit & Flare Dress

I’m really into dresses and retro prints this summer!  I purchased this cute little Retro Fit & Flare Dress from Ross Dress for Less (Brand: Haute Monde) along with another dress just like this one except a totally different print.  They were only about $13-$15 a piece. They make the perfect little summer dresses for so many occasions.

There are several reasons why I like this dress.  Number one the print and color are totally giving off that 40’s – 50’s retro vibe.  Number two the material is thick enough that you don’t need a slip.  Number three the material is stretchy which allows for fluctuation throughout your day.  Number four the material is textured which adds a bit more character to the dress.  Number five it can be dressed up or down and worn on many different occasions. Number six it is sexy yet conservative.  Number seven the pleated skirt is perfect for dancing the night away.  And last but certainly not least, number eight its fit and flare style creates the illusion of an hourglass figure whether you actually have one or not!

I wore this dress to church on Father’s Day but I can totally see myself wearing it to a casual outdoor wedding or even on a fun date night.  I would wear it to a graduation ceremony or to a wedding or baby shower.  Dress it up with stilettos or pumps or down with sandals or wedges.  Just whatever you’re feeling…this dress allows you to do just that! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! 🙂 🙂 🙂
